Polish style potato pancakes (rosti)

The Daring Cook's February 2012 challenge hosted by Audax & Lis and they chose to present Patties for their ease of construction, ingredients and deliciousness! We were given several recipes and learned the different types of binders and cooking methods to produce our own tasty patties!

Ingredients:

1 egg
0,5 cup plain flour
salt and pepper
5 medium sized potatoes
half of medium onion
sugar and cream (to serve)

1. Grate peeled and washed potatoes.
2. Grate onion.
3. Add flour, egg and spices. Mix well until combined.
4. Fry on a lightly greased pan (I used ghee, you can use oil).
5. Serve hot with a cream (doble or creme fraiche) and sugar.

Polish potato pancakes you can also serve with a spicy vegetable-meat stew. If you like to add more flavour to rosti add one crushed garlic clove and chopped parsley. You need to fry one big potato pancake. It looks like that:
